Observer Coverage of the Tournament

The Observer covers the tournament from the first round to the last.  Of course, not all games can get a story, especially in the first round, but the early round stories are often the most amusing.
Early Round- Wet Bandits vs. Irish Amish, You're Not That Special (Admissions Office Team) vs. Team Cupcake, and others
Early Round- Undermanned team almost calls in Professor Carl Ackermann from the sidelines to play
Competition Starts Getting Serious- Round of 32, featuring many "Bro"-inspired names
Round of 16-  Top Seed "Alexander's Grill" (great gyros, highly recommend it) fends off defeat to advance to the Elite 8

Questions about Officiating

A Viewpoint letter was published in the April 21, 2010 Observer concerning the efficacy of the Bookstore Basketball officials.  The author believes that the officials vary widely in talent and ability, and sometimes do not put in the work necessary to make good calls.  His ideas for improving the officiating include paying the officials, and giving them more power to punish teams that complain about calls.

Brian Kelly Bans Football Players from Bookstore Participation

New head football coach Brian Kelly has decided not to allow Notre Dame football players to participate in the Bookstore Basketball tournament this year, so that their focus will be on improving their football skills for next fall.  He said that this decision is not permanent, and will be reconsidered in future years.
